Getting started
Install the theme, pick a preset, connect your catalog, and set up the trade features.
1. Install and preview
Install the theme from the Shopify Theme Store. It lands in Online Store, Themes as an unpublished theme, so you can set it up fully before anyone sees it.
2. Choose a preset
The theme ships five presets. Each one changes the color schemes, the type pairing, the home page section order, the product card density, and which sections are on. The architecture underneath is identical, so you can switch later without rebuilding.
| Preset | Built for |
|---|---|
| Girder | Fasteners, abrasives, hand tools, workwear, site consumables |
| Manifold | Brake components, filters, engine and drivetrain, electrical |
| Trestle | Paper, ink and toner, filing, breakroom, furniture |
| Rafter | Site surveys, installation packages, maintenance contracts |
| Conduit | Cable and conduit, circuit protection, pipe and fittings, valves |
The presets guide covers what each one changes.
Millwright and the five preset names above are candidates until the theme is submitted. Theme Store names have to be unique across every listed theme and preset, so availability is re-checked immediately before submission and a name can still change. Nothing about the settings or the sections changes with it.
3. Set your colors and type
Open Theme settings, Colors. The theme ships five color schemes. Every background setting has a paired foreground setting, so any section you assign a scheme to stays readable.
Under Typography, pick a heading font and a body font. Both come from Shopify's font library and load in four variants. Heading scale, case, and tracking are separate settings, so you can set a tone without changing family.
4. Turn on the trade features
Theme settings, Business and trade:
| Setting | Turn it on when |
|---|---|
| Show unit price | You sell by measure, for example per meter or per 100 sheets |
| Show volume pricing | Your variants carry quantity price breaks |
| Show quantity rules | Your products sell in minimums or fixed increments |
| Quick order list open by default | Reordering is the main job on your store |
| Show quote link | You take quote requests as well as orders |
Volume pricing and quantity rules read what the variant already carries in Shopify. If nothing appears, the data is not set on the variant rather than the setting being wrong.
5. Build the home page
The home page ships with a full set of sections already arranged: slideshow, a trust row, a featured collection, image with text, the quick order list, collapsible content, blog posts, and an email signup. Replace the placeholder content section by section rather than starting from an empty page.
6. Check the product page
The product template ships with the main product section, a specification table, the quick order list, complementary recommendations, related recommendations, and recently viewed. Remove what you do not need.
The specification table reads metafields, so fill in the product data first and the table follows.
7. Publish
When the storefront looks right on a phone and on a laptop, publish the theme from Online Store, Themes. Keep the previous theme unpublished for a week rather than deleting it.
