Sign in, plans, member data, limits, and what happens when a licence lapses.
Do members choose a password?
No. A member types their email address and follows a link sent to their inbox. There is no password to choose, no password to reset, and no password for anyone to store.
How long does a member stay signed in?
About an hour. After that the member requests a new link. There is no stay signed in option in this version.
Can somebody sign up without me inviting them?
No. Membership is invite led. A magic link is only sent to an address already on your members list, and the login form gives the same reply either way, so nobody can use it to find out who your members are.
Where are my members stored?
In a hosted members service run by Batten, not in your Framer CMS and not in the published site bundle. Your visitors never download your member list, because it is never sent to the browser.
Can a visitor get past a gate with browser tools?
No. The decision about whether a visitor may see a page is made on the server. The components only render the answer they are given, so there is nothing in the browser to switch on.
Does a gate work on the canvas?
A member gate always renders its children on the canvas, so the section stays editable while you design. It applies in Preview and on the published site.
Do plans nest?
Not in this version. Plans are matched exactly, so a page requiring pro admits members carrying pro and nobody else, even if you think of another plan as higher. Ranked plans are on the roadmap. Until then, give a member every plan they should reach.
Can members pay for their own plan?
Not yet. You assign plans from the Members tab or when you invite someone. Member facing checkout is the next thing being built.
What does revoking actually do?
It ends that member's access on their next page load rather than whenever their current session happens to expire. The row stays on your list marked revoked, so you can see who was removed. If you want the record deleted rather than marked, ask through the support form.
What happens when a Pro licence expires?
The project drops back to the free tier at the next check. Nothing is deleted. Gated pages and members above the free limit keep working, and only new ones are refused.
What if I lose my secret key?
The key is shown once and we hold only a one way digest of it, so we cannot send it back to you. Write to us through the support form from the email on the project and we will issue a new one.
Does the plugin track my visitors?
No. There is no analytics, no tracking script, and no advertising cookie anywhere in the plugin or the components. What is recorded about a member is listed on the privacy policy.
What happens if I uninstall the plugin?
The plugin leaves your editor and the keys are cleared out of the Framer project. Your project, members, plans, and gates are not deleted, and a published site keeps working until you take the components off it. Reconnecting later needs your secret key.
