FAQ

Scripts migration, discount limits, plans, and what the Function can and cannot do.

Is this a replacement for Shopify Scripts?

For discount logic, yes. Scripts was switched off on June 30, 2026 and Shopify Functions is the supported replacement. Tiered discounts, buy one get one, gift with purchase, customer tag pricing, and shipping rules all rebuild as rules here. Payment method filtering is a different Function type and is not part of this app.

Do I need Shopify Plus?

No. Discount Functions serve every Shopify plan. Only checkout UI extensions are limited to Plus, and this app does not use them.

Will this use up my discount slots?

It uses one. A store may only have 25 active automatic discounts including app and Function discounts, so every rule lives inside a single discount node no matter how many rules you write.

Why is there a twelve rule limit?

Because a discount Function is given a fixed instruction budget per checkout evaluation, and a rule set that goes over it means the discount does not apply at all. Twelve is the largest number of rules that stays inside the budget on an ordinary ten line cart in the worst case. It is a measured limit rather than a pricing decision, which is why Plus does not advertise more.

How do I know a rule will do what I meant?

Two ways. Every rule reads back as a plain English sentence while you build it, and the test panel evaluates a sample cart against your live rule set and shows which rules fire.

Can rules stack?

Each rule declares whether it stacks with others in its class. Product, order, and shipping discounts are separate classes and never compete with each other. The resolution order is documented in the settings reference.

Can I discount only items that are not already on sale?

Yes. Add the Exclude items already on sale action, which skips any line carrying a compare at price.

Does the app see my customer data?

The Function runs inside Shopify with no network access, so cart and customer data never leaves your store. The customer tag, email domain, and first order conditions are evaluated there, inside the checkout evaluation, and nothing about a shopper is stored or sent anywhere. The admin side reads no customer at all: there is no customer query in it, and the app does not request the customer read scope.

Does it add anything to my storefront?

No. There is no storefront code, no script tag, and no theme edit.

What happens if I uninstall?

The automatic discount stops applying and the app's rule table goes with it. Your other discounts are untouched.

How do I get help?
