Roadmap
What the first version does, what is next, and the known limits that come with it.
This is what is planned rather than what is promised. Dates are deliberately absent, order is not.
The first version
Magic link sign in, gated pages and gated sections, four code components, a members list with invite and revoke, and Pro unlocked with a licence key.
Next, and the one that matters
Member checkout. Let a visitor buy a plan themselves instead of waiting for you to assign one: a price on each plan, a payment provider behind it, and a checkout button component. When a payment clears the member lands on the plan, and when a subscription lapses they come off it. This is the thing that turns a gate into a business, and it is the most requested feature any membership tool gets.
After that
Member self serve. A member portal component: change email, change plan, cancel, download an invoice. Today the member profile is read only, plus sign out.
Gated sections in the plugin. Section gating already works through the member gate component. What is missing is a screen listing the sections you have gated, so you pick from a list rather than typing a key into a property control.
Tidying up rules for deleted pages. A quiet offer on the Gated pages screen to remove rules whose page no longer exists.
Bulk invite. Paste a list of addresses, or upload a CSV, with a dry run first that says how many are new and whether your tier can take them.
Email branding. The sign in email is plain today. Sender name and a restyled body are worth doing once somebody is asking for them.
Ranked plans. Plans are ordered but not hierarchical, so a page requiring one plan does not admit a member on a higher one. A rank on the plan and a comparison instead of an exact match fixes it, and the gate logic is small and fully tested, so it is a contained change.
Later
Framer CMS items. Gate individual CMS entries rather than a whole detail page.
Analytics for the site owner. Sign ins, active members, and which gated pages get asked for most.
A membership template. Framer's membership template category is thin, and a template shipped already wired to this plugin sells both.
Self hosting. The members service runs standalone with a single database migration, so packaging it as a one click deploy is a small step. It answers the objection of not wanting a member list on somebody else's server.
Known limits, stated plainly
- Plans are matched exactly. No hierarchy yet. See above.
- Sessions last about an hour with no stay signed in option.
- No member facing checkout. You assign plans.
- Framer moves fast. The plugin depends on Framer editor behavior that is not fully specified, so it is re-checked on every Framer release. That is why the changelog exists.
Anything shipped from this list gets a changelog entry on the day it goes out.
